Banana Blossom Cutlets – The New Fashioned:)

Banana Blossom Cutlets – The New Fashioned:)

Plantain Flower Cutlets:

Other Names: Vazhaipoo Cutlet. Plantain Flower Cutlet. Banana Blossom Cutlet.

When I was a student, most nights…I used to go back to hostel at wrong times! And the mess will be closed:( So, to be on the safer side…I used to get some hot puffs or cutlets for my dinner! True, with that kind of snack dinner and unmistakable taste…my days passed! Thinking of cutlets, this one thing stirs up my memory…how my crazy friends used to fight like cocks for that last bite! Yeah, very funny…as most of my buddies believed that whoever consumes last piece of snack from others plate, will end up having a handsome husband in future’! So, whenever I see that extra crust of breadcrumbs…I just laugh to myself:):)

Ingredients:

Plantain flower – florets, (remove pith and stamen) chopped
Potato 1 large – cooked and mashed
Green chilies 3-5 finely chopped
Onion 1 finely chopped
Ginger 1″ grated
Garlic 2 cloves minced
Cilantro leaves few
Salt
Chili powder (optional)
Garam masala 1/4 spoon
Bread crumbs 1 cup
Egg white for coating
Olive oil for pan frying.

Method:

Mix all the above mentioned ingredients (except, oil, bread crumbs and egg whites). Combine them into a dough. Then, divide them into equal parts. Shape them into cutlets.

Now dip them in egg whites and roll them over bread crumbs. Fry the same in a shallow pan, until brown and crisp.

Serve hot with ketchup.
