Paal Halwa

Also Known As: Milk Halwa. Sooji Halwa. Rawa Halwa.

People don’t want to diet during winter…and also want to stay in shape! So, comforting ourselves with a delicious desserts that are low in calories is the trick. Paal Halwa is one of the ultimate comfort dish, evoking childhood memories. And the recipe is quite simple too, it took me only few minutes to prepare.

Ingredients:Carolina Cooking367

  • 1 cup semolina
  • 2 cups milk
  • 3/4 sugar
  • 1/2 tsp cardamom powder
  • 1/4 cup ghee

Method:

  1. In a wide pan, heat a teaspoon of ghee and toast semolina for few minutes. Set aside.
  2. In a heavy bottomed vessel, add sugar and a quarter cup of water, bring this to syrup consistency.
  3. Further add semolina, milk, cardamom powder and ghee. Allow this to cook briefly or until all the moisture is sucked up.
  4. Chill the same and serve as a dessert. Enjoy:)Carolina Cooking368

    Your Paal Halwa is very nice. I enjoyed the Halwa in my mind in physical. Have u any items just like that for diabetic patients just like me? If you givwe such items we can also enjoy. This is not compulsion, just for information.

      Come on you can still have it a teaspoon or bit more and join me for trekking:) How does that sound? :)

      Well, replace sugar with sweetener, whole milk with fat-free milk. And skip the idea of 1/4 cup ghee, limit yourself with 2 teaspoons…like the way I did!
