Oh really Viki, payasam…my mommy used to make them. Paniyaram sounds yummy. Pathaneer…happen to taste it by mistake…while on trip to coutralam!! Guess you know lot about this fruit!

In my native place they grow a lot of Palmyra trees. I enjoyed nungu, pathaneer (juicy extract from the bracts of blossom)and palm fruit. Srilankan people make payasam, paniyaram and many sweets out of the palm fruit juice (squeeze & discard fibre). Grilling the fruit will give a nice aroma and I love it very much.Nice pictures. Thanks for giving me a good malarum ninaivugal (sweet memories).
