Hush Puppies – Southern Delight!

Hush Puppies is my all time breakfast favorite. Although tasted it in quite a number of places…the best came from ‘Cracker Barrel’ a true Southern County Style Restaurant chain here. I am just wondering, how a chain of restaurant…still managed to collect so many pieces of antiques almost uniform in all their places…wow! Back to the recipe…its a simple and delicate dish. Calls for just the basic ingredients and gets transformed into a delectable treat in minutes. Sounds amazing, right. Here you go…
Ingredients:
- Corn meal 1 cup
- Egg 1
- Green onion, 2 chopped
- Jalapeno, 1 chopped
- Brown sugar 1/4 cup
- salt
- Milk to mix the batter
- Oil for frying
Method:
- Place all the ingredients together (except oil and milk) and mix well.
- Add milk and prepare a batter, dropping consistency will do.
- Drop them in desired shapes in hot oil and deep fry them. Wait till it is crisp on the outside and golden brown.
- Serve up while it is steaming hot.
