Also Known As Mulam Pazham Juice. Kirni Pazham juice. Melon Milk Shake.
Last spring, I left some cantaloupe seeds for the birds in my garden. Guss what? The red sparrows, robins and jays munched and munched all of it, except for few seeds! To my surprise it grew into a tiny plant in my lawn along with tough Bermuda grass! Later, I took real pity and relocated those fragile plants to the flower bed. Well, out of five just two survived the summer heat and grew into a long-vines. The good part is…later I even got lucky to spot some beautiful, aromatic, colorful fruits. Honestly, I didn’t feel like harvesting them.

Cantaloupe is one of the best low-calorie summer fruit. A perfect thirst quencher that is loaded with vitamins and other nutrients. For making juice, peel away its outer skin and scoop off the seeds too. Then, cut into cubes and freeze, then blend into an icy smoothie. Adding milk is a novel idea too. But, back home…Ayurveda-addict elders keep saying that melons should never be mixed with milk!! I don’t know the exact reason, if I find out…will let you know.
