Other Names Green Mung Dhal. Hara Mung Dhall. Pacha Payir Masiyal. Green Gram Dhall.
- 1 cup green gram – soaked overnight
- 1 onion, chopped
- 3 green chilies, chopped
- 5 cloves garlic, chopped
- 1 large tomato crushed
- 1 Tsp tamarind water
- salt to taste
- pinch of turmeric powder
- few tsp oil
- 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
- a pinch of asafoetida
- few curry leaves
Method
Cook green gram till tender and set aside.
In a wide wok, add oil and temper the whole spices…followed by chilies, garlic, onions and tomato. Allow this to cook briefly, then add salt and turmeric to it.
Further add cooked mung dal and bring this to boil. Serve warm with steamed rice.
