Street food is one of the unique feature of Asian countries! Its a way of expression of the culture – through colors, spices, texture and fragrance. It is an integral part of the Indian culture, varying to each geographical location, climate and language.

Few tips and pointers to aid, before you venture out!

If you need a best street food experience — Follow the locals. Locals have already tried and tested various street food options and have determined their favorites. Frequenting places that locals enjoy guarantees quality, and authenticity. Needless to say a busy vendor assures quick turnover and fresh ingredients. Just follow the crowd. :)

The street food sojourn would not be complete without a plate of Pani Puri. Pani – literally translates to water, is actually water with ground chilies, mint and other spices!! Puris – are ping-pong sized puffed crispy circles of dough (fried in oil). The vendor/server punches a hole in the puri and fills it with mashed potatoes, chick peas, salad and some ground spices; followed by a dip in the sauce (the spicy-tangy water) fills the crispy puri, instantly. One needs to pop it in the mouth, at one bite! Sounds bit challenging, right?! Its pure fun experience! It has to enjoyed with your friends, each person is served one (puri) at a time giving enough time to munch through and get ready for another bite. Just image…the server has to count, between the chaos, laughter and dripping Pani. :) :)

Its a wonderful experience. Sometimes, you need experience…than my rant! Its time to go get a bite for myself. :)
