Also Known As: Paruppu Podi,Chettinadu Paruppu Podi. Poondu Podi. Dal Powder. Lentil’s Powder – to go with Rice. Andhra Gun Powder for Steamed Rice.

- Thuvar dal 1 cup
- Raw rice ½ cup
- Asafoetida 1 tsp
- Dry red chilies 15
- Salt
- Jaggery a little bit
- Tamarind paste, 1/4 tsp
Method:
- Heat an iron wok over medium flame. Dry toast ‘thuvar dal’ for few minutes. Maybe till it turns golden color.
- Dry toast the rice too and followed by other ingredients.
- Now coarsely powder them all together. Leave this powder on a wide tray for some time. Then store in an air-tight container.
- Serve this along with rice. Mix this powder with steam cooked rice. Run few spoons of ghee or sesame oil on the top. Enjoy.
