I am bit disturbed for the past few days…kind of homesick all the sudden! Hmmmm, its very unlikely of me though! Does festival season do this to people? To add fuel to it…I also spoke to my loooooooooooooong last friend and he kind of stirred up all those nostalgic past! Which made me so vulnerable to almost book a ticket to India!!!
Deepavali – the festival of lights has the power to bring people together, to unite everyone around as a family. All over the country it sparkles and its the best moment to share love, presents, and edible goodies. Thinking of homeland and people I care about…how can I resist an occasion to pass by like ‘yet another day’. So, I geared up on the cooking spree.
After steering through those countless lists of desserts on the web…I decided something simple. Yes, the easy fix ‘Balushahi’. The recipe is not that fancy, but the taste! Well, you’ll see.
Ingredients
- 1 cup all purpose flour
- 2 tsp yogurts
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 2 tsp clarified butter
- ghee for deep frying
- Honey for dipping
Method
Mix all the ingredients together, except ghee and honey. Prepare a smooth fluffy dough.
Divide them into equal parts and shape them as you please. Now, heat the ghee to medium hot (not too smoky) and fry these balushahis to golden to deep brown. Once its done, dip them up for few minutes in bit weak semi-diluted honey. Sounds sweet, right.
