Carrot Halwa

See, I would have accepted AK’s proposal at the first place, if he had had chosen a nice dessert to dig in on our first date rather than spending a huge fortune on a diamond ring!! Which I don’t even wear. Anyhoooo, the poor guy waited three loooong years before I nodded ‘Yes’ for marriage. I just nodded for something else…that’s a different story! And, the wedding took place rapidly before I winked my eyes! I think my Dad is super smart and knows exactly when to get rid of me.
Ingredients
- 1/2 k carrot, grated
- 1 cup condensed milk
- 1/2 cup kowa
- 1 cup sugar
- saffron
- 1/4 c ghee
Method
In a wide wok, heat sugar with a cup of water followed by add saffron and condensed milk to it, reduce it to half and add grated carrots. Simmer and cook until all the moisture is sucked up, further add kowa and garnish with nuts. Chill the same and serve it up along with a scoop of ice cream.

Egmore!! Shree Mithai!!! Brings back very fond memories:) My best friend lives in Chennai(Egmore)and whenever I went to Chennai, she would drag me every evening to eat chaat at Shree Mithai. The dahi chaats are just out of this world. We’d go there for a snack, and end up eating so much that we would be too stuffed for dinner!!BTW,to reduce the guilt,we always made it a point to walk to and fro
