Composing A Sweet – An Ode On Jilebi
The love for sweetness
Began to unfurl in every cell,
Kicked-in the cravings
And the hormones swell.
Given the challenge
To make sweet jilebi,
Just not like any other lady
Set forth the idea immediately.
I stepped into kitchen
With ladles and knives,
The sweet beginnings
Did began and nice.
The pantry is full and neat
No further items I’ll need,
Took a recipe of mommy
That cherished long on memory.
One portion of urad flour
Ground to dust
Four parts of refined ghee,
Melted on heat.
Beat the batter with sour curd
Let it soak in flavor n color,
Bring the saffron to touch
You may want to finish on such.
The cone is not enough
Pour it in a pouch through,
Pinch a nozzle to drizzle
Make it flow lil bit narrow.
Draw your way of jilebis
Fry-em in deep yellow oil
Golden brown is the color
Floating crisp is to clear.
Dip in white sugary juice
Drench till all shine n gloss
Honey coat you may even love
Let leave aside and move.
Sweet and sour are the taste
Wait to chill, before you plate,
Invite your folks to dine
Spread everything real nice.
When you munch,
Drips the cane,
Take another bite
Before its too late.
Crisp over edges
Crunch on the core
Color, sure blares
You may wanna lil more.
Sweet little thing
Sure, steals your heart,
You would set to store
But never could you seal it sure!
