Methi Mutton Pulav – A Typical Friday Evening

Methi Mutton Pulav – A Typical Friday Evening

A Typical Friday Evening

Plan A: Go out for dinner and a movie.

Plan B: Go to the Mall, stroll and eat in food court.

Plan C: Order take out meals and dine in front of the TV.

I like multiple choice, because its easy…you don’t have to actually (stress this word as much as you could, if you’re from South India) make a choice! Wanna know what really happened. Plan – D was executed! Apparently there wasn’t any Plan – D, of course!  No prize to you for guessing it correctly.

Well…just cooked a quick one pot meal, ate, complained! Read blogs about how to whip calorie laden food in minutes (without burning calories). And, went to bed early. :)

Ingredients

  • 1/4 kg goat meat
  • 1 1/2 cup short grain rice
  • 1 cup fresh methi leaves (fenugreek)
  • 5 chilies, sliced
  • 1 tsp ginger – garlic paste
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 large tomato, sliced
  • 10 mint leaves
  • few spring cilantro
  • salt to taste
  • pinch of turmeric (optional)
  • 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  • 4-5 cloves
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 tsp fennel seeds
  • 1-2 bay leaves
  • 3-5 cardamom, crushed
  • 1 cup ghee

Method

In a pressure cooker, cook meat till tender and nice, set aside. Yes, do retain the broth!

Now, heat up a deep vessel. Add ghee and throw in all the spices. Followed by chilies, onions. Fry real good. Then, add ginger-garlic paste, mint, cilantro and tomatoes. Now…let this turn pulpy.

Further add cooked meat along with its broth plus salt. Later, add methi leaves, turmeric and rice to it. Add enough water and cook. Once the rice is done, fluff the rice a little and transfer the contents to display vessel.

Voila. :) Dig in. :)
