“Rainbows: The Gift from heaven”.
My Baby turned five, today. We had a humble celebration at home. Every year…the theme to her birthday party – just happens! Yeah…no exaggeration! I travel with her “likes” and “dislikes” and practically the idea unfurls & layers up to a central theme. At first…it was Yellow; then, Red; and Pink n Purple. Thus, Rainbow it is. Oh Girlie Girl.
The Idea Of Rainbow Cake As I told you, the idea of a Rainbow themed party is not instant…rather, has been processed over time! My little girl kept drawing rainbows all the time! Played with colors more eagerly than other things! She started collecting rainbow shells, bought rainbow hairbands…outfits…flip flops…school bag…what not!
Well, I am not a baker. But, with willing heart….I started day-dreaming about a colorful cake! Hmmmm, certainly my kind of thing. lol. Then, penned few doodle work on my note pad. Once, I got comfortable with all my creative imaginations….the confidence level slowly improved.
The Making Of Rainbow Cake
Shape Of The Cakes I kept the shapes of the cakes quite simple! A basic square and planned to mount half of a round cake (for the rainbow)! But, later switched it to bundt! Both should work fine. However,if you’re planning to use Round Cake, fuse two halves to one — makes it sturdier (my humble suggestion).
Play With Colors Blue and White frosting were natural choice! Well, for today’s cake I did outsource some ingredients! I bought Smarties from London and Gems Candies from India (AK has a travel job). And, needless to say that am an active online shopper! One could certainly use colorful frostings or M & M candies, here. However, M & M’s don’t have purple and pink candies in them. Additionally…I used Marshmallows for clouds…a pretty choice, indeed. A colorful sprinkle could do a trick for the borders!
At first it was quite intimidating…however, it was a piece of cake. Voila. And, there is something special about a homemade birthday cake, isn’t? I truly enjoyed making this colorful cake for her. The good part is: She absolutely loved it. A grand success.
