Also Known As Fried Whole Flounder. Pickled Fish Fry. Fish Fry with Pickling Spices. Muzhu Meen Varuval. Meen Porichadhu.
- 1 whole flounder
- salt
- turmeric powder 1/4 spoon
- chili powder 1/2 spoon
- tamarind paste – as per taste
- oil for pan-frying
To Be Toasted and Powdered
- coriander seeds 2 spoons
- dry red chilies 4
- fenugreek seeds 1-2 spoons
- mustard seeds 1-2 spoons
- fennel seeds 1 spoon
Method
Clean fish, scales down, gut out…wash and clean. Retain the head and tail fins for aesthetic reasons. Add all the above mentioned spice blend and ingredients to it(except oil). Let this stand for about 2-4 hours.
Heat oil, pan-fry the fish both the sides for about 4-7 minutes till they are done, crispy and aromatic. Serve up warm as a main course along with rice and steamed vegetables.
