Fried Spring Onion Pancake:
Other Names: Asian Fried Pancakes. Korean Scallion Pancakes. Green Onions Pancakes.
I am a die-hard fan of Asian food. During my road trips, I keep hitting my GPS for any Thai, Chinese and Korean food nearby! Most of the time, they never let me down:) And I will be deeply convinced if they serve it ‘authentic’. So, during one such road trip towards Cincinnati…I chanced upon a Thai restaurant (absolutely no clue, where I got down…and how many diversions I took to reach there)!! Anyhoooo, the food was excellent and particularly this ‘pancakes’ were quite impressive. I even stepped into their kitchen to thank the chef and to carefully note down his recipe:) Well, though I got my recipe right…my creation didn’t turn out exactly like I planned for! Hope I will improve next time.
Ingredients:
- All purpose flour 1 cup
- Eggs 2 – beaten
- Salt
- Spring onions
- Oil for frying.
- Soy sauce
- Ginger 1 inch – chopped
- Garlic 1 minced
- Red chili flakes few
- Honey few drops
- Peanut few crushed.
Method:
Nothing much, you would have figured it out from the ingredients list, by now. Knead the flour with beaten eggs, add salt to taste. Divide the dough and roll them into flat breads, sprinkle chopped spring onions to it. Fold and roll again. Deep fry the same in hot oil, until crisp. Serve to go with the sauce. And for the sauce…mix all the above mentioned ingredients, that’s it:) Well, it actually took me a lot of time to type this recipe than to fix it!!!!
