Kothavarankai Poondu Poriyal

Kothavarangkai- Poondu Poriayl:

Cluster Beans Subzi. Gorichikudukaya Koora. Gauvar Phalli Ki Subzi. Cluster Beans Stir-Fry.


Cluster beans 1/4 kilo
Garlic 2 whole heads – peeled and crushed
Turmeric 1/4 spoon
Chili powder 1 spoon
Mustard seeds 1/4 spoon
Cumin seeds 1/4 spoon
Curry leaves few
Oil few spoons.


Trim the ends and side fibres from the beans. Wash and then chop them to bite size.

Boil these beans for about 7-9 minutes. Then discard the water. One could avoid bitter taste from this vegetable…by doing so. Moreover this veggie gives lots of bile secretion…so removing its broth would be wise.

Heat oil in a wide wok. Add mustard, cumin, garlic and curry leaves to it.

Then followed by cooked veggie. Now add salt, turmeric and chili powders. Fry real good till they are fragrant.

Serve warm as a side dish for South Indian Meals.
