Other Names Sawa Millet Kheer. Saamai Payasam.
It is a lovely coincidence, when a simple recipe turns out to be deliciously addictive. And, this new Kheer is just as good, with two humble ingredients millet and milk. I realize that I have shared a bunch of quick fix Kheer recipes here before. But it is quite nice to have a different desserts to choose between when our late night cravings set in.
Ingredients
- 2 Tbsp sawa millet
- 2 cups whole milk
- 1 pinch cardamom powder
- 2 Tbsp sugar
- 1/4 tsp ghee
- few sliced almonds
- few pistachios
- few raisins
Method
- In a deep dish pan, smear quarter teaspoon of ghee and stir-in the millet. When they get roasted, set aside.
- Bring milk and sugar to rolling boil and simmer it down. Allow this to reduce into half or thicken to taste good.
- Now, add roasted millet and cardamom. Cook briefly and remove from heat.
- Toss the nuts and raisins in the Kheer. And, chill the same and serve forth.
