Malpua / India’s Own Pancake – Dessert to Die For

Malpua / India’s Own Pancake – Dessert to Die For

Malpua:(Bengal Sweet)

Sinful Indulgence: Look around, is anyone next to you? No one, alright. Confession: I have my own guilty pleasures and every once in a while, temptation gets the better hand of me. Conscience? come on, that hardly works when you spot honey.

If you are a die hard fan of Bengali sweets, I am positive…your senses will be invaded with this caramelized malpuas, dipped in sugar syrup…lick it off – discover happiness:)

Ingredients:

Sugarless Milk Kowa/ Maava/ Khoya 1 cup
All purpose flour 2 teaspoons
Cardamom powder 1/4 spoon
Ghee for shallow frying
Strong sugar syrup
Fresh rabri(grated paneer) to garnish/sliced nuts.

Method:

Bring milk solids, flour and cardamom in a wide bowl, add either milk or water to make a smooth batter. Set aside.

In a pan, heat ghee. Now drop the batter, right into the hot ghee…its going to spread as pancake on its own. Cook both the sides.

Now immerse these malpuas/pancakes in the sugar syrup. Remove quickly.

Serve warm or cold as dessert.
