Mathi Meen Vadhakkal / Meen Perattal

Meen Vadhakkal:

Mathi Meen Perattal. Fish Masala. Fish Poriyal. Chappalu Subzi. Machili Subzi.

This is my friend Annie’s recipe. SHe says its quick and easy. Curry goes waste generally after when we eat fish. If your family size is too small…this will be a good choice.

Ingredients:

Mathi Meen(clupedae Fish) 1/2 kilo
Large purple Onions 2 sliced
Green chilies 6 slittled
Tomatoes 2 finely choped
Garlic 1 whole head sliced
Curry leaves few twigs
Salt
Turmeric 1/4 spoon
Chili powder 1 spoon
Mustard 1/4 spoon
Cumin 1/4 spoon
Oil few spoons.

Method:

In a very wide wok, heat oil.

Add mustard, cumin, curry leaves to it. Let them splutter.

Now add chilieas and wait till they crackle. Add onions and fry real good…till they turn to golden color.

Add garlic and folloowed by tomaotes. Sprinkle salt, turmeric and chili powders to it.

Fry for about 2 minutes. Now add washed and cleaned fish! Cover and cook over medium heat for about 5-7 minutes. Maybe till the fish gets cooked thoroughly.

Then remove the lid and fry for 2 minutes to remove the excess moisture…if at all.

Serve warm to go with plain steamed rice.
