Ingredients
- 1 cup urad dal, soaked for couple of hours
- 2 tsp rice flour
- 3 green chilies, chopped
- 1 bulb small onion, chopped
- few cilantro leaves, chopped
- 1 spring curry leaves, chopped
- 1 inch ginger, grated
- 1 pinch asafoetida
- salt to taste
- 1 pinch of baking soda
- 1/4 tsp peppercorns
- 1/4 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 tsp grated coconut
- oil to shallow fry
Method
Wet grind the lentils to smooth paste, add all the ingredients to it, except oil. Mix well.
Heat oil in a frying pan. Wet the palm and make tiny vadais and add them to oil, once it turns golden to reddish brown…flip over and cook to the other side. Remove from heat and leave them over kitchen towels. Repeat the same for the remaining batter. Serve warm with chutney and sambar. Its a perfect tea time snack. Enjoy.
