Kadai Paneer – Restaurant Special

When true foodies dine outside, they never fail to order this basic dish! A must in every Desi Restaurants! For some reason…we South Indians crave “Paneer”. So, on the other day…when I spotted this fresh paneer in the Indian store, I bought it purely out of an impulse!

Ingredients

  • 250 gms paneer, cubed
  • 1 onion, crushed
  • 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 2-3 tomatoes, puree
  • salt
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 cup almond, paste
  • 1 cube butter

Method

  1. In a wide wok, heat butter…fry the paneer briefly and set aside.
  2. In the same oil, add onions and ginger-garlic paste and fry till fragrant.
  3. Add tomato puree, salt, turmeric and chili powders to it. 
  4. When the curry thickens, add almond paste too. Now, add the fried paneer to it and cook till tender.
  5. Wait till the oil shows up on the top. Garnish with more cream or butter.
