I have lots of commitments these days. So there isn’t much of cooking these days!! Pardon me folks. This is the most recent cooking (though this isn’t exactly a meal) I have experimented in my kitchen.
Growing up, I have had my share of several divine dishes! If I have already told you this story, forgive me for repeating once again. My Mom’s preparations deserves unlimited mentions, okay. In the household that rarely celebrates religious events, pooja time with ethnic dishes means…my brother is around. As a little boy, he kept asking big questions all the time. Hmmm, that forced my parents to introduce ‘God’ and observe all the religious festivals eventually. Coming from a different background…my Mother did her best to prepare many such recipes for each and every event and pleased everyone around her. And, this is one such preparation that is made on special occasions. I like the part of lighting it up into a beautiful lamp and I really feel so bad to have it as a sweet!!
Ingredients
- 1 cup rice flour
- 3/4 cup jaggery syrup
- 3 cardamom crushed
- 2 tsp grated coconut
- 1 tsp ghee
Method
Mix all the ingredients together and prepare a soft dough. Do not bake or steam! This is a raw dish. Now, shape them up into little diyas (lamps) and pour enough ghee in the pit. Place a thin wick and light it up. There you go, you got a lovely oil lamp plus an edible dish.
