Sathu Maavu Kanji / Health Mix Porridge



Sathu Maavu Kanchi:

Malted Grain’s Powder. Malted Health Drink. Health Mix. Healthy Drink. Balanced Morning Soup. Mixed Whole Grain Soup.

Ingredients:

Whole wheat 100 grams
Black Urad dal 100 grams
Ragi/finger millet 100 grams
Kambu/ Indian millet 100 grams
Soya 100 grams
Green gram/moong dal 100 grams
Par-boiled rice 100 grams
Roasted Chana dal 100 grams
Saago/saboodana 100 grams
Ground nuts/peanuts 100 grams
Cashew nuts 50 grams
Almonds/badam 50 grams
Cardamon pods 10-15
Saffron strands 1 spoon

Variation: If you are above 50s and having diabetes or high cholesterol…..better avoid ‘peanuts, almonds and cashew nuts’.

Just before Serving:(serves 1)

Warm Milk or Warm Water – 1 cup
Health mix powder – 2-5 spoons
Sugar 2-3 spoons
Chopped banana – 1 or Chopped apple – 1

Method:

Soak whole black gram, green gram, finger millet, Indian millet in water. And drain and strain it. Allow it to sprout with limited water. Maybe it may take 1 or 2 days.

Then dry toast the sprouted millets and gram till fragrant and without moisture.

Do dry toast this rice, wheat, roasted chana, sago, soya, peanuts, cashew nuts and almonds too. Maybe toast each separately.

Now to this add cardamom and saffron. Mix everything togather and powder them. One can powder these in a mill instead of kitchen blender.

Store this powder in air-tight container.

Just Before Serving:

Bring water or milk to boil. Add 5 spoons of ‘health mix’ and boil without lumps. Maybe till it thickens. Add sugar too.

Serve warm in a bowl. Add chopped banana or apple(optional)

Perfect for morning breakfast.
