Thaligai - meaning ‘cooking’ and during festival times…a special care is given to prepare a ritual meal (I will go into those details, in yet another post). And, coming to this particular dish…it doesn’t call for a recipe of its own! We just toss the most favorite items from the festival spread into one large platter and prepare a voluminious serving like this! It is offered to the deities and later consumed as votive food. I have relished such a treat, when I was a kid. But was not sure…what should I call it! It just went by the name as ‘thalige saadham’ among my folks, so there you go…
Ingredients & Method
- Cooked rice
- Curd
- Raw milk
- Bananas
- Jaggery
- Vadas
Mix everything together and prepare a large serving mass as shown in the above picture.
